MR-2 Hatch Conversion
I've seen several FD3S, and one FC with a MR2 style piece to replace the hatch, does anyone know where to get this part? or will I just have to custom fab. it?

I don't know...Glass is pretty heavy so that hatch could weigh the same or even less than the stock. But......I would take the weight over Honda/Toyota look alike any day. Just my 7 cents

Why would somebody ever want to put something like that on their MR2? The MKII's look pretty damn good stock, and you would look like a Transformer doing that to an MKI like mine.

Not only is that conversion completely fugly, its aerodynamics are terrible.
A car's exit shape is actually more important than its entry shape. And the exit shape of most cars is far too vertical to mantain any kind of attatched flow. The RX-7 is an exception, and while it could use some work to get optimum performance, it is much better than most cars available.
A notchback design like that would create a rather sizeable are of low pressure covering almost the entire rear end of the car; causing a signifigant increase in drag. A frunk design would be less aerodynamic than stock, but far better than the notchback. The final result of any of these mods would be decreased high speed performance and increased fuel costs.
Why would you pay money for the priveledge of ruining your car's aerodynamics?

Oh, and BTW, that notchback mod would also pretty much eliminate any benefit from a spoiler as well, unless you mounted the spoiler at a rather unreasonable height.
