Motor swap quest
I was just wondering if i could put a 3rd gen motor into my 88 Turbo. I went to petite racing and they have a motor for about 3100 dollars. was wonderging if it would be a good swap.

you can do it, but power wise there isnt much of a point. the swap is pretty hard to pull off, plus its very expensive. for that 3100 bucks you can make your car run with some decently modded 3rd gens.

The 2 rotor Cosmo engine is actually an easier swap from what I've read. The motor mounts are available for this, but not for the FD motor. Same HP I believe, though larger intake runners and a slightly smaller set of twin turbos than the FD. Do a search for Cosmo Donk and his conversion to 2 rotor cosmo- and maybe some others have done it.
But I agree about having a 2nd gen motor built up as it will drop in, so the $$ you might have to spend on motor mounts and ECU and all that could be spent on beefing the 2nd gen engine up! If you love the look of the FD engine- convert the upper intake manifold to the FD one.
