Arrow Motor Swap 86 non turbo

I bought a 86 2+2 non turbo rx-7 about a year ago it just sat in my backyard once i found out it pushes coolant out of the motor. I took it to a mazda shop earlier this week and they tested and found hydrocarbons in the coolant. This motor has already been rebuilt. The guy told me i should get a rebulit 13B motor from atkins rotary. Atkins told me i could get one for around 2,000 with port and polish.

My question is what should i do to the car now that the motor is out of the car? What should i replace/upgrade right now? Im trying to get as most power out of this motor that i can. I heard fuel pump and injectors is a good place to start, yes or no? if so can i get some links to good performance website for sec gen rx-7 parts? Maybe a list of good upgrades and in the order you'd do them in. Its stock except for full exhaust.

really could use some tips/tricks when doing a motor swap. i already bought a cherry picker and got just about everything dissconnected. thanks

also is there any other motors you guys put in these besides the 13B? I havnt paid for the new motor yet.

If your paying for a new motor, I'd recommend pm'ing japan2la here on the form. For the price they told you, 2000, i think Japan2LA could set you up with a 13bt conversion(engine, tranny, and ecu).

But as far as upgrades while you have the motor out of the car, I'd suggest fuel pump, radiator, maybe rewire your harness to make sure you didn't break any wires internally(extremely time consuming, but worth it in the end IMO).

Sites to look at for rx7 parts would be:
www.racingbeat.com
www.mazdatrix.com

Personally, I'd suggest PM'ing some of the bigger parts distributors here on the board for parts.

And unfortunately, yes their are a few different motors people swap into these cars. One of the biggest being a V8 swap. The LS1/T56 combo is almost a direct drop in. You can buy premade motor and transmission mounts...

i would personally stick with a stock engine and make it a reliable driver. atkins is a good engine builder and i would trust a rebuild from them. you can upgrade to a TII engine and drivetrain but thats a lot of work and money. eaiser to buy the TII (even with a bad engine) and already have the essentials.

i'll agree to this! i wanted to do a T2 swap but i found myself digging a deep hole. so i found a decent T2 and bought it.

though there are exceptions when doing the T2 swap as well. depending on you making the whole car a T2 or hybrid is up to you. the whole T2 would require you to get the whole rear suspension/differential ($200+), drive shaft(idk $50+), tranny($150+), ecu($30+), engine($400-(blown)-$1000+(high mileage)-$2000+(low mileage/ported). if you find good prices your total is going to be around $1400+. the hybrid version is just getting the driveshaft from mazdatrix custom made for turbo tranny to NA differential ($288.20 plus shipping), tranny($150+), ecu($30+), engine($400-(blown)-$1000+(high

For sure replace the motor mounts while you have the motor out...
