Mostly Stock 90 T2.. How much boost?

Hey all.
So I've got a stock 90 T2, and the person who owned it before me changed the exhaust on it. The car has always been relatively slow feeling, so I took out the silencer from the exhaust and man did the car get some pick up..

I used to make about 2psi of boost in second gear, with the silencer out I make about 8-10.

3rd gear I used to make about 5 psi, now I'm making 10.
The problem I'm having is the turbo seems to be over spooling because of this exhaust which cuts my fuel. I was thinking of throwing a fuel cut defensor on there (I've got one here) but I want to check to see how much boost a stock T2 engine is capable of handling. I don't think it's spooling much past 10. But I certainly wouldn't want to blow out that back Apex seal..

Any advice? Well other than get a new exhaust which is sitting in my garage waitin for a warm day to go out and weld it..

put the FCD on there, it can handle good bit more than 10. the thing you need to worry about is running out of fuel. watch ur afr's.

and the exhaust thats on there is prob. clogged since it now spools all the way. replace the exhaust.

you blow the motor because you put a FCD on there
you need fuel man - i.e. f-con, etc.
put one of those in before you put in fcd.

a SAFC or SAFCII will do the job.... and there is nothing really wrong with putting the FCD on as long as you watch your boost VERY CAREFULLY and look for boost creep because with an opened exhaust and without a ported wastegate it WILL creep and that can cause the engine to blow.

id say after the SAFCII id add 720 cc secondary injectors and an rtek 1.7 ECU chip upgrade. then a walboro 255cc fuel pump.http://fc3spro.com/TECH/MODS/mods.html has some really good info about how to correctly mod your 7...also search the forum for many many other good information about this

I blew my turbo motor by running lean after freeing up the exhaust, just like you did. It could handle 10psi safe-ish but a cold night had me overboosting to 12psi before I noticed. Kaboom

This was on a brand new rebuild.

And I had a properly working FCD and a ported wastegate. Be *VERY* f'ing careful.

I suggest you stay out of boost until you add more fuel (bigger secondary injectors will be a must to run 10psi SAFELY)
