most appropriate ecu change???
well, I quess Im looking for an ecu change now....i want to be more reliable than a fcd....
Im looking at a gforct or jet? i think ecu....anyone have any comments/prices/ worth it???
Im just looking at getting a downpipe to finish my full exhaust and I already have an intake and boost controller with super afc.
I figured that the price of an ecu is a lot better than blown engine....

Goodspeed,
What make you think that an ECU is going to protect your engine? Don't get me wrong...I have a G-Force that I paid $500 for. It only adjusts the timing, remove fuel cut, and change injector duty cycle. Other than that, nothing else. If you have a 86(7)-88 car, don't bother since that ECU has major limitations anyways.
Since you got an AFC, you can tune your fuel to protect your engine from leaning. As for fuel cut, a cheap FCD (make one yourself...just do a search for it) will do it. To adjust timing (probably not needed), an Apex ITC is better since it gives you flexibility.
Yes, I have a G-Force. It is good and I can actually feel a difference (about the same difference as installing an intake and cat-back system, IMO). Actually, the strange thing is that my check engine light would flash when I boost over the fuel cut limit (>8PSI). But there is no fuel cut; it just flashes, and I just ignore it. No error code is stored in my ECU. Would I go the same route if I was to do it again? Nope. Just save the money and go Haltec.
