Moron Questions on ECU??

How do you know when a stock ECU goes bad? Can they partially go bad? Shouldnt they last the life of the car?

Reason I ask is sometimes my car runs perfect one week, sometimes it has issues the next week.

There are several input/output checks you can perform on the ECU to verify its serviceability, all in the pertinent FSM for your car. I have an ancient writeup that may help you out in your quest. Search for "troubleshooting from the ECU" to find it. I lost the link, lol...

Thanks WAYNE88N/A, I seem to remember seeing that way back when, or maybe it was the TPS check at the ECU? I'll search again. I did search before but there were a zillion threads.

No codes, just wondering why it runs inconsistent some weeks, good one week-bad next. Last code I had was '17' but fixed it by trashing the Bosch 02 sensor and replacing it with an NGK.
