More clutch problems !!!

I'm getting ready to go over to the Mechanics shop and
hopefully stop him from tearing apart the clutch again. He
installed a Mazda Trix upgrade clutch and I've had nothing but
trouble since. I don't think it is the kit, and he want warranty
the work because I brought my own kit.

Last night the clutch went to the floor like the cable broke
or let loose.
So I tow it to his shop thinking it will be something simple.
He claims the new slave cylinder I had replaced 3 months ago
is stuck open and will cost $136.00 to replace. I said
replace it hoping to get my car back today.
Then he calls me back and said something is broke in the
clutch Assembly and he'll have to drop the tranny again.
I don't like this and said if you go back into this how about
lets resurface the flywel this time.
He said he don't know how he'll get that big nut off, and don't think it needs
resurfaced.
But I've been getting chatter when down shifting or reverse.
I also have been hearing a dry sound while driving, when
you push the clutch in it goes away. It sounds like a dry sanding noise.

Any one have any any advise?

1. The slave cylinder only costs $34.93 from Advance Auto Parts.
2. To remove it you disconnect 1 hydraulic line, then take out two bolts. (To be fair, he also has to bleed the system.)
3. I'm not sure how a 3 month old slave cylinder is going to get stuck. Was it leaking? Did he show you the old part?

I just got back and he said somthing is broke in the clutch
assembly cuasing the slave cylinder to jam open. I told
him to wrap it up and I'm taking it to another shop monday
and having it redone. I just used this guy becuase he

Well, I guess we'll see when the "new" shop rips it apart. I wouldn't worry about the flywheel unless it's scored. Rough it up and it will be ok. The "dry sound" ?? Eveything is turning same rpm, flywheel, disc, pp, Unless the clutch pedal isn't adjusted properly, and the throwout bearing is slightly touching pressure plate fingers. Then when you push pedal in, bearing turns.

Did you get new pilot & throwout bearings with the kit? Sounds like the guy didn't install the new bearings, if you got them. Since the pilot bearing is such a PITA to get out, he probably tried, tore it up and just left it in there then installed the new disc.

He complained how hard the pilot bearing was to get out
and charged me extra labor.

Parts from Mazda Trix :

1) Clutch Cover ; Up grade
2) Clutch t/o bearing
3) clutch pilot seal
4) Clutch pilot bearing
5) Clutch Disc : upgrade

He may have damaged the pilot bearing seat, so now the bearing sits crooked. Did you ask him if he had the old pilot bearing? Ity's funny how some shops "magically" don't have your old part that was removed in place of a new one. Not everone is honest out there, be careful with who you have work on your car.

Damn. He supposed to have all the necessary tools or atleast the shop. How much does it cost for them to buy a puller or slide hammer for the pilot bearing. Or maybe he messed up the bearing putting it in?
