More BAC talk. Relocation?

I'm pretty new to the forums but have been doing my homework (I think). I'm working with an '87 6 port that doesn't need any emmissions crap.

I'm doing the "Full TB" mod to remove the secondaries and the thermowax. I would however like to keep the BAC and the cold start solenoid.

Has anyone relocated the BAC? I was thinking of mounting it to my EGR blockoff plate to clean things up. Will the heat there be a problem for it?

I figure in this location running water through it would be super easy and I'd just need to run a T-d vacuum line up to the end of the chamber.

Comments?

Thanks.

I guess you could get it to work there, But I can't justify the work. If it's really that much of an eyesore, I guess go for it. But i would just recommend that you leave it as is.

Just an FYI-Water doesn't flow through the BAC. The hose connections can be removed from the BAC without loss of water. Just remove the 2 phillip head screws and the hose "assembly" can be pulled away from the BAC.

However, those screws are soft and most likely in there pretty good. They will be tough to remove.

Ok, thanks for the comments. My BAC has two lines that look like water in/out as well as the pre-TB in, if these aren't water what are they? From the calcium deposits in them I was guessing it was a water jacket????

So the jist of what I've found on the forums here is you can either A) Remove the BAC altogether or B) Leave it where it is......

I guess I just dont follow very well cause I dont want to look at it but I want it to work.

That hose carries coolant to the thermowax. The BAC is simply a convienent place to mount that hose. It does not interact with the BAC.

Not exactly... the coolant flowing through the hose helps prevent the BAC from freezing when starting and driving in sub freezing temps.

Thanks, I knew I wasn't that stupid. All of my previous experience is building big piston engines, but a water jacket is a water jacket...

Thanks for the help guys, I'll post pics when it's relocated and everything is polished.

My bad. I concidered the heating issue, but dismissed it as probably detrimental to the BAC. Didn't even think about the icing issue. Thank you for correcting that.
