more about the 240sx

I know this is probably a stupid question, but there's a post about the 240 vs. the rx-7. I would just like to know, has anyone ever tried doing an sr20 or ka24 swap onto a 7? Its a small engine, and its got some muscle. I hope no rotary fans dont hate me for this post, I mean, dont get me wrong, I love my rotary, but it's just a thought.

the sr20det is a great motor and if someone wanted to disgrace an RX-7 by putting a piston engine in it, it would be better than a V-8 IMO. the ka24de is crap unless it has built internals to handle boost. in a sorta related thing, its becoming popular in japan to put sr20s in the old ae86 corrolas.

my friend just got a sr20 swap into his 240 and another friend is getting the swap done as we speak i would never digrace a rotary with a piston swap its better to leave it in a 240 believe its a mean *** swap my friends car just hauls *** it just keeps pulling all the was thru 5th but he would agree a rx7 with out a rotary just isnt right. its not why were on this forum its not why we buy are cars and its not why we have to try to explain to everybody what a rotary is when they ask if it has a 4 or a six (i just say 2 then watch there expression). thank u

hmm.. no. Although once built properly the KA-T can be a great motor, it takes alot of time and money to do it.. the SR comes stock w/ the forged internals to handle most anything u wanna throw at it... PS, I'm the friend w/ the SR of which kraker speaks

I agree, the SR20 is much stronger internally than a KA. I mean, you ever looked at those rods they came with stock? For a 2.0L 4, those things are beefy as hell. Those things can handle crazy boost stock. However, the SR20 is one of fav engines from one of my favorite cars built by my favorite maker, I agree.....Rotary in a rex only.

Talking $100.00 Says My 86 Lt1 car would whip all thier asses!

No pistons? Damn you guys are boring.
Seriously my other RX-7 86 base model is converted for an LT1 and 6 speed. The car ran 12.55 @ 109 on a COMPLETELY STOCK MOTOR! I mean stock as in stock manifolds and cats! So how about building a 420 rwhp N/A V8 and 500 ft lbs of torque to get it moving along
Then throw on a 200 shot of the happy gas and watch it go. I wouldn't waste my time with an Sr20. just put some turbos on a big V8 and forget about that small stuff.

you and your damn drag racing. just shut it. if i was to drop a piston engine in the rx-7 (which i would never do) i woudl put a rb26det which has been done but you have to cut the hood up or a turboed q45 nissan engine i would liek to see that built on a lighter chassis it should own the road. but after that its all good ol american drag racing fun what ever the hell that is....... hey whats everyones next project car gonna be? i want mine to be ether a 80's/mad early 90's 911 turbo. all black just like in wangan midnight or a FD or a r32 if the price ever goes down. i liek to go a diff route then everyone else. not to be diff but liek with the supras its liek "oh supras own the roads porsche sucks" well no one really builds 911s so now they suck and are slow. same for the skyline. ever sence that video with a pretty much basic addons (exhust intake etc.) skyline vs a modded c5 lost liek twice everyone is liek screw skylines...well sept for the show car guys. so i really liek to build cars that have a bad rep do to the lack of tuner intrest. buy yeah whats you rnext project car?

What does doing a conversion have to do with being on this forum?

To each his own. We need to think outside of the box. If he want to do it. Let him. He knows he will get criticized....BUT how many of us can say that we have done what he has done. Some of you can't even change your own spark plugs

And people can readily criticize that rotary enthusiasts are blinded by their near godlike view of the rotary engine.

People have done other type of conversions. Jimlab is putting a piston engine in his 7 (check out the 3rd gen section if you do not already know). I'm sure he can have a lengthy discussion w/ you about it.

Some people like to be different. Some like a challenge. Some have excess money and too much time. Some want to personalize their car more to their liking.

There are too many reasons as to why.

yup thats it. haha the hood they have on that car is soooo ugly. i have seen it in another pic but man i bet it owns on the freeway (please don't flame me for the drag comment just everytime i go to the track i get 2 runs in liek 3+ hours..and its boring it feels liek your alone to far away from the other person. and the street races are too short and no real imports out there. just show cars). i wonder what the weight diff is.

That RB in the FC is pretty nuts. Too bad it is so ugly. My favorite engine in my favorite car. I would consider that swap. However, I would rather have a RB26DETT in a 1971 240Z.
