Cool Moon/Sun Roof Repair

Hello, I recently bought an 86 fc na only to find out that the Moon/Sun Roof doesn't work. Not a big deal but i would like to use it. I'm guessing it's just the motor that isn't working and I'm wondering where the location of that is and how to get to it so I can replace it.

Thanks!

Search "sunroof repair". It may even be in the archives. There is an excellent thread that will help you immensely. It may not be the motor. The cables and tracks get really gunked up an prevent the sunroof from functioning properly.

I'd give you a direct link as I have it bookmarked, but I am on my phone right now.

Thanks for your replies, I've done some searching already but I wasn't quite sure what to search, the problem is it's not moving back at all. I'm leaning towards the motor since it is not making any noise at all and if it were gunky tracks I figured it would make noise as it was trying to get through the gunk.

yep. the switches are known to go bad too since all the power runs through it. get a multimeter and test for power 12v at the motor and work your way back. you should have 12v at the motor and a good ground.

This is the thread I mentioned earlier. If everything just needs a good cleaning and once over, I'd use this thread as a guide.
