Which model is this?

This may be a stupid question, but I have found conflicting information around so I figured it would be best to ask you all.

I found a 1988 Turbo II, but I'm confused about whether it is the 182HP or 200HP model. How can you tell the difference when looking at the car from the outside?

It does have the "round" brake lights, although I'm not sure if that matters.

Thanks a bunch!

if its an 88 then its a series 4 which is the lower hp one. many people put the series 5 (round) brake lights on series 4 cars.

Not to knock it but, $2300? There's an awful lot wrong for that price. The door/fender/rust seems the most obvious. The interior could probably be cleaned but the leather is shot. I didn't see anything about a replaced motor, so you should budget that in at some point. I'm not saying for certain amount of miles but, be ready.

S4 (86-88) TII's were 182bhp and S5 (89-91) TII's were 200bhp, although with the added weight, it evened itself out...

is an 88. With S5 tail lights.
Look for hints such, as black molding, short orange turn signal, rims, Interior, And the EGR vavle.

Thanks for the replies. The brake lights threw me off.

I have never owned an RX-7 before but have driven a few (non turbo). I drive a 92 VW GTI right now putting down about 95 HP at the wheels, so I'm guessing this car will be a big change for me. I hope so at least.

Thanks again.
