mixing and matching rotors?-please advise

I was wondering if you can mix same engine rotors. For example, can I use a rear rotor from one 13b n/a and use it as a front rotor on a 13b n/a and vice versa? Are these rotors interchangable as far as front and rear?

Ok here is the thing yes the Rotors are interchangeable. But they are only interchangeable within certain years. The 1986-1988 (S4) N/A and the 1989-1991 (S5) N/A rotors are different. They are different in both weight and compression. So if you just want to swap them around then just make sure it is the same series rotor as the one you are using. But if you have a S4 motor and want a little more power you can put in the S5 rotors. To do this you would need a set of S5 rotors, the front S5 counter weight, and the S5 flywheel (or S5 rear counter weight if you have an auto or are using a light weight flywheel). But when you do this you will also have to compensate for a little more fuel due to the higher compression of the rotors. It’s early in the morning I hope that made sense.

Second hand knowledge but,

I've seen it posted that there are weight codes stamped on the rotors from A to D or something. You should not use rotors that are more than two letters apart, the same letter for best results.

I'd ask someone that knows though, I think it was mentioned the aforementioned idea comes from the FSM.

walterh......Give us a little detail. Like what year the two engines are from. But the answers are in the above posts. Still like to know though.

And I might add, if you buy the RACING BEAT catalog or the MAZDATRIX catalog, they are great reading material for this type of question. NOTE; the online version of the catalogs is not what I refer to. Those mainly just sell parts. The printed catalogs are what I refer to. About ten bucks.
