Missing plug on exhaust manifold?

Hello experts,

I took my 88 na 'vert to the dealer today to explore my exhaust leak - I didn't have time or inclination to try to pull it apart myself. They just called and said it was a missing plug between the 2 rotors, part of the exhaust manifold where it wraps around.

They said their resident rotary expert (the old guy, I guess) had never seen this one before. Quoted me $420 to fix it, which includes around $200 for disassembling to this point.

I said OK. Car has 76k miles, and runs great, but has this eye-searing exhaust leak. Are these guys grasping at straws, or is this really a possibility? He sure didn't sound convincing when he described it to me!

TIA,
Emery

the only plug i can think of anywhere near the exhaust manifold would be an O2 sensor. The absoluty best saving money way is to buy the parts or find the name of the parts you need and look for a cheaper price. Then come on here and well help you install them. Ive done this before and saved myself $220 out of a $250 job.
