Metal Skid Plates
Anyone know of a company that makes metal skid plates for under the 2nd gen 7's? I need to replace the one under me car when I put it back together and would prefer to get a metal one just for its durability. Anyone found them in their searches?

you people don't worry about **** getting f'd up under your car without a protective plate under your engine?
Besides helps keep it clean too...
And yes I am talking about the plastic piece under the car... I wanna replace it with something metal and thus not so durable.
better safe than sorry

1) Stop driving over that crap.
2) Stop off-roading your FC.
3) Get a 4x4.
4) Bitch like hell to you local politicians to clean up the road.

Crap still flies into the front grill opening in the bumper.
How do you keep all that crap, dirt, grime dust from blowing into the engine bay?
Oh, why don't we seal up all the holes so none of that can get in the engine bay?
Yeah, that's a SMART IDEA.

I'd like to see pics or a link for FD's?
I never had any respect for FD owners anyways...
hIGGI made custom ones for his cars.
Go drop him a PM on how he made his or try and dig up his threads on it.

you think its a bad idea to have protection under the engine... I just wanna make sure all my hard work doesn't get f'd up becuz there is a coon in the road I didn't see... You know how hard it is to get burned flesh off a motor?
lol

Now you're putting words into my mouth.

1) Stay awake while driving.
2) Get glasses to correct your vision.
3) Slow down if you KNOW coons are on the road.
4) If we're talking at night, GET SOME DRIVING LIGHTS.

its not a bad idea.....especially if ur plastic undertray is old and falling apart like mine.....hell..it might improve the aerodynamic of the car abit....the answer to ur post is no...no company make the skid plate for our cars.....its all custom made.....i thought about this for a while...but then i'd have to drill out all those broken boltheads that holds up the tray

drilling out is easy... just make sure you use a small enough bit and a hardened bit too boot. I have to drill out about 5 under my car before I can attach the undertray whatever its made of and also my heat shields. Its not drilling out thats a pain its retapping proper sizes for the bolts. The correct tap size is 6.0mm x 1.0 pitch I believe. unfortunatly for me I drilled my battery box holes too big and need to find bolts to fit now
but oh well.
Thanx for the help everyone

i think a skid plate is a good idea.... why not go for a little rally challenge in the 7? or maybe rally-drifting would be funner? Eather way, i don't think a skid plate could do much harm( just a lil weight), only adds protection from who knows what.

my thoughts exactly
and like I said I do live in michigan and about spring time there can be HUGE chunks of road that you don't see till last minute sticking up on the road.

what a dick.
Anything that you run over that has the ability to damage something under your car, more than likely can bust through sheet metal (unless you use something like 1/8" or 1/4" thick steel, which would be really darn heavy). If you're concerned for your oil cooler and radiator, that can be damaged through the grill opening. Ask yourself, control arms, oil pan, etc., how much force does it take to damage those? Now how thick of a plate would you need to deflect that force?
I could see using thin sheet aluminum, but only if you can't get your hands on a stock tray. I wouldn't consider it any stronger than the plastic, though.

Yours, OTOH, is just a blatant attempt to insult me.
You need to go reread the rules for this section, cause you just broke one of them.
If you're not going to offer any advice (helpful or not), I'd suggest to STFU.
Thank you for playing...next...

not to ruffle feathers here ..but why not just bring it to a place that would make one..or make it yourself..trace the thing out on cardboard and get a pencil and trace it..cut a template onto sheet metal and get a jigsaw or some kind of cutting device, file and hammer "go to town"..hell,if you do a good job out of it,you just may peak the interest of other owners and find yourself making a little money out of this "fiasco"..I have had to cut a smashed fender off with a pair of side-cutters so if I can do this ..good luck in the venture..
