i have the glass sunroof i want to replace with the metal. do i need to take the headliner out and such to do this?
JUST the metal moonroof. dont need to fix the track or anything like that. the track works perfect.

 

you'll slide the suroof back about 1/4 - 1/3 of the way and then pull the cloth covering off of the metal sunroof. it's just held on there with some plastic disposable connectors but be gentle with it, you don't want to bend or rip it. then you'll see ... 4 or 6 bolts that bolt onto the metal part of the sunroof. sorry it's been a while since i've had mine out.

a haynes manual from your local auto parts shop will give you a good step by step. and the fsm links from the FAQ will show you all the parts of the sunroof in an exploded view. link FSM just go to section 14 - 55

oops, didn't realise you were going to replace you existing glass roof with a new metal one. i hope the FSM can still help a bit.

and it was a simple replacement BTW.
took about 20 minutes to switch both of them around.

 

what glass roof u have? I have the gold tented one i found in the junkyard...a fellow rotorhead was a few seconds to late...disadvantage is if u live in cali like me....summer sucks because u have the sunroof, the back hatch, the windows all around....the shifter feels like an iron haha....but it is beautiful to look up and watch the rain when it rains

yep, mine is gold tinted also, i have no idea where it come from...it was on my car when i got it.....if you have one and need cash...its a good way to make good money fast
and if you have a metal sunroof, its a direct replacement...well it was for mine anyhow...*shrug***

 

I found one at Mazda Recycling on E-bay for $75.00 two years ago.

a company called pacific t tops inc. made them but they no longer are around, my black t2 came with one

 

Someone could probably make one, I feel mildly tempted to make one of lexan and tint it.
