If you mean those rice *** mufflers no. I would never even think about it. Its a waste of money. I'd rather run it open exhaust.

Borla tips look to old school. Like the design team wanted to be all futuristic and ****.

a muffler isnt gonna function that much. 7's are loud, the point of exhaust is to simply direct gasses out the *** of the car.
im doing a custom single pipe this summer. i plan to use a generic straight flow muffer and a decent presilencer.

anything wrong with that?

the only thing im worried about is the sound quality of the setup ive described.. i figure it should sound similar to a WRX.. throaty, not farty. but im also considering dual pre silencers with a straight pipe out the back.

I remember reading that most generic mufflers can't handle the heat a rotary produces and that most low quality mufflers go to **** after a few months.

rotaries run extremely hot. shitty generic mufflers obviously not the best sound dampening material..give it a few months u minus well have no muffler on. but if u want it just for looks and love being deaf go for it.

In my town I have many opportunities to see and hear "n1 style" cheap mufflers on cars like sunfires, crx's, civics, and neons. [inbred preppy-hicks, rednecks, cracker-ghetto wannabes, and other various miscreants abound here]

Judging from the sound they make on piston engines....

...ok, so the question is, do or do you not want your car to sound like a Johnsered farm tractor?

For me sound was not a priority, only funtion. I have a 2.5in pipe with a single Magnaflow straight through. I would say its comparable to a N1 style muffler, if they are really straight through with a 2.5in core, like mine. The sounds my car makes are the sounds of a stockport rotary breathing freely and efficiently. Do you think Downing Atlanta thinks about what their 13G and R26B race cars SOUND like? My exhaust is so good it lowered my running engine temp like ~10F, which was visible on a stock temp guage and verified by my autometer guage. beat that.

oh I forgot to add that it cost around 200 bucks total and the car pulls clean to 7000 now. Racing beat is too much of a compromise for me. I should have a Kudzu to drive to work. I'm special. Ricers fear my header "tink" sound. moohooohooohoohaaaaahaaahaaa!

News flash! You don't have a 13G or an R26B.
With RB there are no compromises. They are straight through just like all the rice cans and don't look stupid like all the 4"+ tips out there.

you know N1's are loud as hell, especially on an NA 7 with a straight pipe or even a presilencer, but i wouldn't say they sound like ****. i was formerly of the thought that they were loud and that's it, but after watching my friend run around the track i think they sound pretty damn good compared to some of the other stuff people run on their cars. i however, would never get them on a street car. ever.

use diagnal flow borlas or dynomax. They are kick *** mufflers. They dont look to hot and arent dirt cheap, the dynomax welded are cheap though. They sound great and really shut the car up. Im running a NA 20b. At first I only wanted 1 straight flow, but that didnt do crap. REally. I put a borla offset inlet/center outlet and that did the trick. Ill vouch for these anyday.
