To me the N1's aren't really about performance. They are just about those huge tips on the ends. I think somone must have figured, "the bigger tip I have the more chicks I get" kinda like the bling bling wheels and spinner ****. The piping of the N1 mufflers is around half the size of the tip. Now that is false advertising to me. I mean really 4.5" tips?

yeah i guess, maybe i just got used to seeing them on his car. the tips can have a silencer installed...but no one ever uses them. i guess the tips really have no purpose hehe. oh have you ever looked at real Apex N1 piping? they have little bulges in the piping before the mufflers, i've always been curious about if those were some kind of mini-silencer...if so they sure don't do much :p

Borla, Dynomax, and flowmaster all have some great straight through mufflers with good sound dampening. However, not having a straight through design doesn't necessarily mean that it's plagued with high backpressure. i.e. Flowmaster's chambered designs. I would really recommend that you use a presilencer for some added sound dampening. It's going to help tremendously with any high RPM resonance that you would encounter when using any N1 type style muffler. hope this helps good luck

Yeah Wankel7 my friend has them. They aren't too bad on a TII. I am assuming the things in the piping are some form of pre-silencers. About the silencers you can bolt in....why would you want to buy a cat-back that has to be restricted to be safe for your ears? Its just dumb to me. The silencer's have like a 1.5" pipe in the center. Yeah thats the p@wuH!

N1 mufflers can sounds good they flow pretty much straight through so as long as you have a presilencer or cats they usually sound ok it the straight pipe to N1 that sounds most tinny. But i'm a racing beat guy myself IMHO its the best looking and sounding out there, not to mention very good quality

I know there are alot of people who have had problem with flowmasters in rx7s but they few i've head sounded nice. Its a loud and very different tone than most other mufflers, sounds like a much larger engine through those mufflers, but as many people will tell you rotary exhuast gasses have been know to blow out the weld on the baffles on these

By restriction I meant the silencer not the presilencers. The presilencers are normally striaght through and provide minimal power losses to any car. But the bolt in silencers that go on the tips are a huge restriction.

Before I bolted my N1s together you can see light thru the pipping. They are straight thru.

It is loud. It is big. It does make a statment. But who cares? I like the sound alot and even more now I have a mid pipe.

If anything it is a stage. I have had the N1s since I was 20. I am now 24 and I find my self looking at the RB TII exhaust.

The silencers are great. Because believe or not you don't need max power to go to work or the grocery store.

Ah ok yes. I agree, those silencers are stupid.

If money is tight i'd say get the Borla cat-back. If money is a little more abundant get the RB cat-back.

I would say its comparable to a N1 style muffler, if they are really straight through with a 2.5in core, like mine. The sounds my car makes are the sounds of a stockport rotary breathing freely and efficiently. Do you think Downing Atlanta thinks about what their 13G and R26B race cars SOUND like? My exhaust is so good it lowered my running engine temp like ~10F, which was visible on a stock temp guage and verified by my autometer guage. beat that.
Rock On!!! I had pretty mugh the same setup,, but I had dual magnaflow's with a ghetto y pipe. I had a straight pipe until my dad got pissed and took the car to RP Performance and had them put high flow cats on it, It still sounds good, and has only two cats. Magnaflow is great.

can't really say since I never heard one

but sound is a matter of opinion
no period about it

but if it is a true straight through muffler how is it going to differ from another straight through muffler?

I've heard RB muflflers which ARE straigh through. And I have heard Genuine N1's from APEXi and I can say that the quality of sound comming from the mufflers from RB is much better. The noise is suppresed much better aswell. That is how they excel. RB makes no compromise about power and makes your car sound stock with a little pep. N1's make your car rumble around at idle.

hehe won't argue that one
but I thinkg I am going with a larger then stock tip
about 3" or so but mainly cause I want something to fill out that stock exhuast cutout a little more

it isn't about the bling just trying to get it so there isn't some HUGE *** gap between the exhuast and the bumber
