Im in the same boat, not sure what to get. My buddy just got the megans for his ae86 and I must say, they're very beefy, ride well too.
So do you buy used Tiens for $800 or new Megans for $900?

Those are all terrible choices because they use a one size fits all damper for every car and spring rate (WRONG).
Get yourself a set of koni yellows and a ground control coilover kit with camber plates and you will be able to change the setup as you grow.
It may not be the MaD TyTe Yo thing to do but if you ever blow a shock, and need to get it rebuilt good luck with the ebay/JDM stuff.
There is a reason that racers usually do not run off the shelf ebay/JDM coilover kits...

I have D2's on my car and they're great. And as far as having to replace the shock, I've done it myself on a customers car. We ordered the replacement strut from Ksport and it took a half hour to replace. The strut got to us within 2 business days. So if you're just going to spout random **** that you've heard from all of your other jdm fanboys, without any actual first hand experience, then keep it out of here.

Hahaha, youre dumb. Ksport, Megan Racing and D2 are all US based companies, how are they ebay or jdm?

Put your shocks on a dyno and you will be amazed how far away they are from "ideal."
D2 is not a USA based company.......they have a USA based distributor and are based out of Taiwan just like all of the others (megan, ksport, etc.).
Just because the car doesn't body roll as much doesn't mean it is perfect. Just because it is stiff doesn't mean it is correct.......
No need to throw around insults. Have a nice day!

I never said anything about the car being ideal or stiff or body roll. These line of coilovers are entry level, they're by no means the best suspension money can buy.
And I'm fairly certain that Ksport and D2 are us based companies. They may have factories in other countries, but the businesses themselves are here in the US. I personally know the owners of Ksport and D2.

This is from fist hand experience. Go to an IT race and see how many rx7's have D2 coilovers.

he asked opinions of 3 brand's, and you turned it into a debate on what coilovers are best for racing.
BC racing makes: Megan, Buddyclub, K-sport, D2, and a few other coilover's. they are based out of taiwan.
of those coilovers, id go with BC racing, or K-sport. they all have warranties, and they arent rebuildable, but they are replaceable for $99 per coilover for life.
i am actually planning on going with Stance GR+, because my buddy is a distributor for them, and he will get me an awesome price....plus i like to try new stuff, and not be a brand *****.

Cheap coilovers are for people who do not want to research thier spring/shock setup and end up with a better overall package.
That is the reality of it..........
I am not a brand *****.......lol.......I have just tried a lot of stuff and know what works well for me.

On the good side, so many ricers are buying this stuff that the companies are expanding and upgrading their products. At some point, they may actually produce a race-worthy product. K-Sport started a NASA contingency plan last year, so at least they have their eye on the ball.

These guys don't care. They just want coilovers to lower their car or because they heard that coilovers are good for drifting. The real race equipment does not look as nice as the bright-colored Chinese stuff.

Tein makes total garbage coilovers, and race bred parts...at the same time!
Ground Control wasnt always a "race worthy" part...they used to sponsor civic's with neon paint and interior's, with body kit's.

Yes, that happens sometimes, but I disagree with your two examples. Tein is still not a serious contender in real racing events, and Ground Control has always used race-quality main components like Koni and Eibach so they were good from day one.

Ksport has good customer service, a friend has some on his LS400.. slammed .. one of the struts blew out, contacted their customer service, provided proof of purchase, and they sent him new struts.
you guys need to relax on this coilover topic.. I know alot of guys do not like them, that is fine.. It works for some people who have them, and it doesnt work for guys who dont like them.
My personal rating would be Megans, Ksports, than D2 last. I know megan isnt as reputable as Tein, Buddyclub, stance etc.. but they are do run their own coilovers, they have a drift car that is hitting up alot of the local and major drift events... and also sponsoring their own drift events. D2 is really a chinese company if i recall.
I got megans on my car when i got it, for what i do, they are more than enough *daily driving, spirited driving*. Eventually I would like to swap them out for maybe Teins *im a Tein fan, had nothing but tein on my old car and enjoyed them*, but im in no rush to swap em out.
Cheers! and good luck/happy tuning!
