O I would think anything is better than stock. lol But I hope the lines don't break. Or you will have hot oil shooting around in the cabin.

I trust a Quality Mechanical gauge, over an electrical one. One reason is you may have to use a sealant on the sending unit which can interfere with the grounding of the sending unit possibly causing errouneous readings.

On the mechanical gages, BEWARE of the inexpensive Parts store brand. (IE Sunpro) I got one of these a few weeks back and it reads 25º /high as verified with an accurate digital kitchen thermometer

Autometer is a good affordable brand, in the pro-comp line and above. If you are that worried about the nylon line failing (I'm not) then spring for the braided ss Teflon line, and then you have to worry about the ss chafing everything it touches.

This actually happened to a buddy of mine. I stretched out and pulled the tube right off the back of his new oil pressure guage. He didn't notice it because it was night and there was no light on the guage yet. The idiot light went off and than I realised tha the passenger compartment had about 1/4 inch of very hot motor oil on the floor.

Two years later, his car *still* smells like motor oil. We did about everything we could short of ripping out all the carpet.
