Mazdatrix pedestal adaptor
Mazdatrix pedestal adaptor
Wanting more accurate information than provided by the stock gauges I decided to install some aftermarket units.
The Mazdatrix oil filter pedestal adaptor, pictured here...

...seemed like the easiest way to install the oil pressure/temp sensors, so I ordered one.
This is what I received...

Note the difference in the sensor hole location...much closer together.
So close in fact, that the pressure sending unit completely blocks the second hole...
.
Not sure what they were thinking with this design change and have yet to hear back in response to my email.
In order to be fully functional it looks like I'll have to plug the second hole and redrill/tap for the temp sender in an unblocked location. Although I'm capable of performing this mod, it seems silly that I should have to...especially given the rather high price of the adaptor ($75 delivered).
I'll update with Mazdatrix's response- if any....

You could also just add a 90 degree 1/8" NPT elbow to shift the sensor over.
I agree though, it's a poor design. Obviously they designed it for mechanical connections and not large electrical senders.

I'm not sure that's even possible, Aaron...in my pic (w/ sensor) the sending unit isn't screwed in all the way- when it is there won't be a lot of room for an elbow.
I find it odd that MT's pic from the website shows a unit that can easily accomodate electrical senders (which I believe are more common than mechanical ones anyway) yet the shipped part is totally different.
Maybe they switched suppliers or something...
