Mazdatrix Exhaust, yes? no?

so mazda tricks has that HKS and RacingBeat exhaust kit

HKS (muffler and Y pipe) = $672
RB (Muffler and Y pipe) = $576
RB (just mufflers) = $430

i wanted to know: is the Y pipe really worth the extra money?

i'd like to go with HKS, but if it means spending $200 more for something i dont need then forget it

so if anyone has bought one of these or just knows a thing of two about exhausts, i'd like to hear how they perform/ sound/ etc.

also: can you get backfires from 'oval can' mufflers like these?

Mufflers don't give backfire. That comes from you having no more cats and unburned fuel going through the exhaust.

edit: Odd, for some reason I typed "exhaustssssssssssssssss" instead of "exhaust."

Why would you buy Racing Beat exhaust through Mazdatrix? Why not buy directly through Racing Beat?

Apparently math is not your strong subject, haha :P

576-430=146

And yes, everything is better then the stock exhaust. Worth the money, of course.

But uh..why not get the full exhaust? Racing Beat catback will literally make your car quieter, or just a wee bit louder. Reccomend getting Header, presilencer, and catback (full system, basically).

anyway, what about the HKS kit with Y pipe, then get everything else later (headers, high flow cat, etc.)?

I'd recommend the RB setup.

Seriously its a beautiful exhaust system, as is the HKS.....however I'd rather have a damn sexy exhaust + $200 as opposed to a damn sexy exhaust and three stupid letters.

IMHO the Y pipe is worth it since your spending the money, why even bother opening your wallet just for some shiny mufflers when the guy it the car behind you can see a dirty *** old rusty steel y pipe right?

Edit - oh and according to 87turboII (or something like that) in reference to the RB setup "you know its for a rotary cuz its got rotors stamped in it".......laughed my *** off....

haha ok, im sold, will i be able to get a header/cat setup that will fit?

i mean, these are supposed to bolt up to the stock CAT yea? so can i get a cat and header combo thats supposed to do the oposite (ie bolt up to the stock mufflers/Y pipe)?

i really dont have the money to do this all at once, so i'd like to be able to do it in sections like this

Yeah you should be able to do it in sections, but you may findthat you don't actuallyhave stock exhaust anymore. Most FC's by this time have had another cat put on at the least.

You may have to do a little fabbing like weld on a flange or something - but nothing that will scare you away from doing it 1 section at a time.

what type of HKS is it at mazdatrix.com? i hate the describtion of theyr products, because they have none. You can only see the letter "HKS" wow..

so does somebody have an idea which cat-back system it is?
I want to go with the racing-beat cat-back, but also interested in the HKS setup from mazdatrix, though it looks a bit weird..

when it comes time for you to finish the rest of ur set up just go with racing beats downpipe/presilencer combo. i have it on my car and it sounds amazing. quiet but very smooth and it gets loud just above 3k when my 5th/6th kick in. (yes its an n/a and yes i said downpipe. its just a cat delete pipe for the first and second cats) but yeah, its a great kit, very well made of course because hell, its racing beat. i highly recommend it

header, presilencer and/or cat replacement pipe, y-pipe and mufflers
the racing beat "road race" system seems to be setup for "true dual" exhaust, in other words one pipe comes off each exhaust port.
RR header 86-88: 237$ 89-92: 209$
RR presilencer: 225$
RR y-pipe: 165$
RR muffler(s): 220$ each

1029$ to 1067$ depending on which header you need

however the road race system only works with other parts of the same setup.
if you started with just a cat-back that hooks up with the stock cats, there is a different section listing what components you will need between the front of the y-pipe up to the side of the engine.

catback sys(y-pipe,mufflers): 576$
cat replacement pipe w/presilencer 295$
header (depends on year of car/engine) around 225$ at the most

1096$ at the most

i'd say expect to spend around 1100$ to 1200$ bucks as it would also be a GOOD idea to replace all rubber exhaust hangers & exhaust gaskets too
hanger kit 121.31$
exhaust gaskets vary depending on the setup maybe like 40$ish for all of those
all these parts are avaible on the Racing beat website

http://www.racingbeat.com

hope that helps
oh and....
will a NA shoot flames out the exhaust?

If you buy the Racing Beat cat back exhaust system: http://www.racingbeat.com/resultset....rtNumber=16420
and decide you want a header/cat to bolt up to the Racing Beat cat back, you can go with the Racing Beat header and Bonez Hi-flow cat: http://www.rx7.com/store/rx7/fcexhaust.html
Scroll down to the header/cat combo.
