im currently getting the rest of my gaskets for my rebuilt motor, i need the waterpump housing to block seal and i find this???
74-88 Water Pump Housing Shim

Use two per engine.
Goes on the two water pump housing studs which do not have a gasket.
Without these, the housing will break!
can someone explain this to me??

do i get this AND the 86-95 water pump housing to engine gasket??
or, one or the other??

These come in the Mazda rebuild kits. You need the shims and the gasket as the shims compensate for the thickness of the gasket on the other two studs.

Not only will the housing warp, but it broke off a piece of the front iron on my friends car. Just thought i'd share that.

 

damn I only used one. I've only seen one used in all the motors I've seen. Strange.
