Mazdaspeed Information
I thought it would be fun, informative and helpful to start a thread dedicated to 2nd gen Mazdaspeed options, tech, and pics. If you have anything to share post it up.
I'm trying to track down what the options were for Mazdaspeed. So far as I know for the appearance package there was a hood scoop, front lip and rear spoiler. I believe the front lip was S5, so perhaps there was no Mazdaspeed 2nd gen till S5?
I've seen the two Mazdaspeed rims but I don't know if they were both FC options.
I've seen Mazdaspeed strut bars, seats, steering wheels, etc... but am not sure how many of those are legitimately from Mazda or Mazdaspeed. To be honest I'm not sure how the end user came to own Mazdaspeed parts and options. Was it through Mazdaspeed franchised dealerships, directly from Mazdaspeed for racing or was it a combination of the two?
I stopped in my local dealership yesterday and they of course couldn't provide any info. I was told when they purchased the dealership they did not continue the Mazdaspeed franchise contract which previous ownership had. They referenced me to corporate Mazda.
I sent Mazda USA an email asking if they could provide any information, sales figures per year, what the options were, etc. I got the corporate equivalent of "Get the F*ck out of here." I was hoping they'd reference me to public relations or people outside of Mazda who had collected similar information but their response was as follows:
"Thank you for contacting Mazda North American Operations (MNAO). MNAO frequently receives a large number and variety of ideas from customers and enthusiasts alike. We trust you can appreciate that there are many organizations responsible for the manufacturing and marketing of Mazda products, which are constantly working on new ideas.
Experience has shown that there is always the possibility, and indeed the likelihood that an idea submitted from the outside will be similar (or the same) to one that may already be well known, previously considered or under development by the company. Therefore, unsolicited ideas from members of the public must be refused and returned, if already sent, to the submitter without consideration. Unfortunately, we are unable to comment on your idea.
We do appreciate the time that you took to contact Mazda and for allowing us the opportunity to respond to your inquiry.
Again, thank you contacting Mazda.
Thank you,

Later I'll post some pics I have of an MS scoop and a PDF of the literature I received with it.

As far as I know, the was no Mazdaspeed RX-7. The first ever Mazdaspeed vehicle was the Protege, if I recall correctly. Mazdaspeed lists all the vehicles they have "built" on their website, also on the Mazda USA site as well.
There were many Mazdaspeed parts I saw floating around years ago for FCs, but that seems to have dried up except for what you can get through the Mazdaspeed Motorsports Development program.
Mazdaspeed parts are currently available for order through certain Mazda dealers. As far as where those FC parts came from, I am not sure. Hopefully others can provide info.

^I was on Mazda's site, it lists the 2003 Protege, 2005 Miata, 2007 Mazdaspeed3 and this years Mazdaspeed3.
So, then 7 parts were all ala carte....both in US and Japan? That would make sense seeing how my literature references "Touring Kit A-spec". One page only has diagrams for the scoop. There are 3 pages.
1) diagram of the scoop and installation instructions
2) double sided
3) Mazdaspeed certification
It's all in Japanese aside from the headings of "Mazdaspeed" and "Savanna RX-7 Touring Kit A-Spec" I've got them scanned and saved in PDF but can't post them up yet. The files are too large to attach and I can't save a PDF to my Facebook and then link it like I normally do with pics.

They offer a lot of stock parts as well as competition parts. What they offer is useful and quality stuff, but it's not quite flashy like typical aftermarket stuff. Think serious racers on a budget looking to get the job done. They would have parts typical to autocrossers and club racers.

Mazda did in fact send 20 Infini IV's to MAZDASPEED for the MazdaSpeed Package which did minor cosmetic changes like MazdaSpeed embroidered seats, MazdaSpeed steering wheel and shift ****.(Japan only) Does not however mention any of the exterior MazdaSpeed accessories...
Exterior accessories:
MS hood scoop(pic above)
MS Spoiler(I have NO info on this and would absolutely love to hear from someone who does, but heres a pic)
MazdaSpeed front lip:
I believe the MazdaSpeed rims were technically sold for the FD's, but I could be wrong. They had the MS01's on the 787B which was built during FC production.
MS01's:
MazdaSpeed MS02's:

^ there is a mazda motorsports website with PDF catalog and such
http://www.mazdamotorsports.com/
At least at my local dealership they can order any current mazdaspeed parts...I imagine that since they are not a mazdaspeed authorized dealership that they are simply outscourcing the closest authorized dealership and ordering through them.

i'll dig it out of the garage tomorrow and post a pic. that's actually the old pics my friend took of before he gave it to me.
but to describe that wing a little more, it's really similar if not almost the same as the stock S5 wing. just 1 mount in the middle rather than the two.
but for sure, pics tomorrow. anything to help pitch in this thread.
