Is it an electrically assisted rack or an electric pump?

If its just an electric pump you just need to power it (assuming you ignore the speed assist) and connect the lines.

The FSM of each car should have the specs. The FC FSM is easily found in the FAQ of this forum, not sure if the Mazda 3 manual will be as easy to get a hold of.
