Maximun PSI out of 91 TII turbo?

I checked the archives and search lists. I am running up to 15 lbs off my 91 turbo. I have an S4 model with the stock S4 turbo manifold and I swapped a 91 model turbo on the last rebuild. I also have a Wolf 3D V4 EMS but its not fully tuned yet. I just want to know if anyone knows the max PSI that the turbo would take before expierencing failure. It has consistantly run 15 -16 lbs.

I have always read that 12psi is about the max the stock turbo is efficient at, it heats it too much after that point.
Your boost has to fall off to 5 or 6 psi by redline? I run 10psi and it bleeds off starting at 5k rpm and is down to 5psi by redline.

I would say that you have maxed it out unless it was rebuilt as a t04 hybrid. I think the turbo is good to 14 psi or so before you will be looking at a blown turbo. Also its not efficient if your using the stock tmic. i know a friend who ran 20 psi with an open wastegate and made it probably 500 miles before the turbo was completely toast. It was quick though with a large fmic setup.

over 12 Psi with stock intercooler and turbo is too much... 12 psi goes over the efficent range of each unit...

I just needed to know. It is gettin to 15 LBS cuz when it was swapped, the twin scroll system was removed and was taken out and held so it wont go above 6 PSI. So after the WOLF EMS install I took it off and am playing with it to try and get it to stay at 10 PSI... Any opinions on how to do this. Even if it requires a Boost controller.

well I am not sure what you have setup right now. When you say removed did they just remove the flapper, the actuator, the arm or what?? And boost would all depend on your intake and exhaust setup. unfortunately a boost controller will never help you lower the boost only raise it so if your car is making 15 psi and you have stock tid, tb and just a cone filter and 3 inch exhaust it sounds like you are probably having boost creap. Even if your not the best thing to do is port out your wastegate and that should lower your boost and get rid of boost creap. You can then use a manual boost controller to get exactly 12 or whatever you want.

no **** huh!

So what can I do to lower the boost.. Get a S-5 turbo manifold without the twin scroll thingy and then get a boost controller?
