Maximum wheel diameter and width without rubbing?

I plan to get different rims and tires sometime come spring for my T2. I have heard that 17s easily fit, but what about 18s? Ive seen them on FCs. Also, how much meat can I fit front and back without rubbing?

Optimal would be some 265/40/18 in the rear and some 235/40/18 in the front would be plenty. Should there be any problems with this setup? Someone please let me know.

dude those are way to big. you can fit a 245 in the back. but on a 18" rim you'd be down to a 35 series. a 265/40/18 is 2"s taller then stock. and is too wide to fit. for the front I'd go around 225, but a 40 would be taller then stock and a 35 smaller.

you just have to make sure the offset is ok for your rim width.

why do you even want 18's? they won't make any difference in handling. for half the price you could just get nice 17's. and if you're doing it for looks you chose the wrong car.

Well, I do happen to think that bigger rims will make the car look more aggressive, ie, sportier.

I can understand that anything larger than 245 would rub, and thats fine. Thats still a big improvement in traction over a stock 205 tire.

and if you're doing it for looks you chose the wrong car.
Whats that supposed to mean?

Man I just replied to this but it didn't show up, so now I get to type it all again. Nah, screw that, short standard version this time, it's late.

For stock body (wide body kits are avvailable): Nothing wider than 225 front or you will stick out, and eventually ruin you paint. I know 255's will fit rear on an 8" rim, but they're designed for 8.5" minimum, so they won't wear properly on 8's. I don't think 265 will fit.

I have 225/45 front and 235/45 rear on 17x8 Cobra wheels. No probs.

the problem isn't hitting the springs, the inside of tire will hit the lower control arm if not spaced out far enough. soul also has flared fenders.

Up front I have 225/40/18's on 18x8 rims with a +30 mm offset. They don't rub. In the back I have 275/35/18's on 18x9 rims with a +30 mm offset. They rubbed. So I had to roll the fenders. 255/35/18's would probably be ok.

If I rolled my front fenders I could go with 245's up front.

Thanks, 13BAce.

I'm now considering 225/40/18 up front and some 255/35/18 rear. I think that would be more uniform and normal because:
225 X 40 % = 90mm and 255x 35% = 89.25mm.

Hopefully by spring time I will have enough money for this. Bridgestone Potenza S-03 Pole Positions

Thanks guys, I appreciate the help

You're welcome. That setup should fit well, but just be sure to find an offset that will work.
