Many questions, so I thought I'd make only one thread.

Many questions, so I thought I'd make only one thread.

Ok, when taking the compression, what's the difference I would get between readings if I first take it from the trailing plug and then from the leading plug?

Also where the hell can I get a 3 pod assembly for the driver side pillar? Please dont tell me ebay

With stock tires (16''), what is the largest spacer I can get to reach the end of the fender, front and rear?

Why is it a good idea to have a oil temp gauge if I already have a water temp gauge?

Thank you

Your water temp gauge is an idiot light masquerading as a gauge.
Although it looks like a full sweep gauge, in reality it only shows COLD, NORMAL and PHONE HOME.

Your first gauge should be a real water temp (this assumes that your oil pressure gauge has been confirmed good by cross checking with a mechanical oil pressure gauge, otherwise fix that first).

Ummmm, I'm sure I didn't say stock temp gauge but water temps gauge....

Let me try this again.

Why. if I have a brand new AUTOMETER water temp gaue. should I get an AUTOMETER oil temp gauge?

Thank you.

^^You presume he has an S5 ^^

And I would say that an oil temp gauge. even with the stock water temp, is totally worth while.

To answer that quesiton:

The oil temp is important because the rotary relies on oil for approx. half of its cooling. Generally speaking, higher water temps, mean higher oil temps and vice versa. Keeping an eye on the oil temp will give you an indication of the engine heating up before the water temp would.........in many cases.

To the spacer question, a 3mm spacer will stick the front wheels to the fender on stock wheel studs.......the rear.......big. Goddamn big. I wouldn't recommend using a spacer on the rear really. But if you do, you will need a custom type that has its own wheel studs as opposed to meerely a giatn washer. This type of spacer will bolt to your exsiting wheels studs and allow the nuts to recess inside it, then have its own studs which you bolt the wheel to.

The trailing vs. leading question? Not sure.

And since you asked not to, I won't say eBay..........

Pineapple Racing sells wheel spacers at 3/16", which is around 6mm. It is certainly NOT 30mm, because 25.4mm is 1". Just look around some rx-7 online sites for some wheel spacers.

Redline performance offers a triple gauge pod, but you'll need to modify it to fit your rx-7 because it is a universal one. There are other locations for gauges though, is there a reason why it must belong on the a-pillar? I have a dual gauge pod on the a-pillar and three more in the space right above my cd player.

I would run an aftermarket oil temp, water temp, and oil pressure gauge.

Yep I meant 3mm....for the front. Thats what I ran when I had stock rims to push them away from the coilover's spring. They also, conicidentally, sat flush with the fender.

Again - at the front Edit: this was with S5 TII meshie wheels and 225 series bridgestones. Might need a larger 6mm for a 205 tire.

The rear as I said would need a monster spacer.... >1"
