Question Manual Swap Cruise Control Help

So I successfully swapped my car to a manual 3 months ago ( Thanks to everyone on this forum ) and everything works perfectly.... except the cruise control. It was in perfect working order before the swap so I don't believe it is something mechanical.

What I understand from the wiring diagram and the fsm is that the cruise control unit looks at the ec-at unit, clutch switch, and the starter cut relay.

I can turn it on but the cruise will not set or do anything, just the light that says "main" is on.

Things I've tried:
- plugging in the ec-at unit, nothing
- unplugging ec-at unit, nothing
- removing pins j and g from the cruise connector, nothing
- any combination of the 3, nothing

I saw this thread:
https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generati...-swap-1069616/

But his solution didn't solve mine

I'm hoping somebody knows what needs to be jumpered, plugged, or unplugged to get to the cruise control back because none of the swap writeups I've read mentioned this problem. Thanks in advance!

1990 gxl automatic that was swapped with a 87 t2 transmission if that matters.

How did you manage to mount the manual trans. Did you get custom mounts made. Because I'm doing the same swap and those mounts are the only thing left. I just can't find them.

What I did was take the auto mount and weld it to the manual mount in front of each other so the middle hole is about 5 inches apart. It doesn't look pretty but it works perfect and retains the rubber mounts which is what i was after. Sadly i dont have a picture of it anymore because it was on my old phone and i forgot to save it when i got a new one, when i get under it again ill snap one for you.

I fixed my cruise control by the way and I feel like an idiot... Removing pins j and g did fix it. The problem as to why it wasnt working before was because i reveresed the connector in my head when i was under the dash and removed the wrong pins.

To make your cruise control work on a S5 gxl automatic that was swapped to a manual you simply remove pins f and g from the connector to the cruise control unit.

NOTE: this will not cut off the cruise when you push in the clutch! If you push in the clutch with the cruise on it will rev very quickly to redline!

You could fab up a switch using well, a switch, and some back strap to make a clutch disengage switch.

Stock there is a switch at the top of the clutch peddle that disengages cruise control when pressed. I would imagine considering how cheap car manufacturers are, that you have the little "ear" on the clutch to catch that switch even though it isnt there (the switch).

If the ear is there, but no hole is drilled, you can drill an appropriate sized hole into it and install a fur tree style fastener, then epoxy a piece of ruber block to the fur tree to make a contact point. As far as the switch, it just needs to be normally open and go to ground when the clutch is pressed. Since you seem to know your pin outs and what they do, I'll leave it at that.

Ninja Edit: My stock rubber thingy fell of and so I had a hole where the clutch switch landed...used a fur tree and cut a square out of a rubber furniture foot to make a new landing point for the switch. Works like a charm. Has been working for 5 years with minimal wear.

JJ-I use mine all the time these days in the Dallas area!

I noticed that when I ride with other people (RX7, PorsChe, honDuh whatever), that NO ONE keeps a steady foot on the gas pedal.

I've been tracking my mileage on my Mazda6 V6 over the last 100k miles with a neat device called UltraGauge hooked to the OBDII port. I'm averaging over 28 mpg in mixed driving using as much cruise-control as possible. I did about 10k miles using no cruise. I averaged about 24 mpg with out cruise. So I use it on surface streets, anything over 40 mph. Hit 40 mph, hit the cruise. I now do it on the Rex, my pickup, my 6-basically everything.
