This would be a matter of opinion. Something that has intrigued me is using a plugged power steering rack because you won't need to replace the entire rack and the steering ratio is quicker than the non power steering rack.

With drifting you'll be needing to do a lot of fast and large steering movements, so definetely power, but the speed sensing S4 (all of them) or S5 TII setup with the 15.2:1 rack would be the way to go. I've had the rpm sensing 17.4:1 power rack, it depowered and a 15.2:1 rack depowered and I like the 15.2:1 best, but it's a bit heavy at slow speeds and still has some weight to it when you get up to speed, not the best for drifting, but fine for grip driving.

If you do choose to go manual then a power rack depowered is the way to go.

^^ haha, a few years ago you didn't recommend the 15.2:1. I don't have my rack depowered properly.. the rack has a leak so I just let it all leak out with the belt off. I think I'm going to remove the pump and stuff soon. Especially if when it's depowered properly it's even easier. By the way, it's 15.2:1.

Yea, I know, I changed my mind on that, but it does require more effort over the 17.4:1 when depowered. For those sitting on the fence a 17.4:1 would be the way to go at first, to see if it's too much or not enough, then there's room to go in either direction.

For the 15.2:1 I'm reccomending here would be with power.

No one would call a depowered 15.2:1 rack light, but it does give good feel and quick responses.
