Hey i just wanted you guys to know that this happend to me yesterday and it took the dude longer than 2 minutes to get it open. It was pretty cool actually and i was a little impressed by my factory alarm system. What happend was taht he was trying to slim jim it through the window then as soon as he started hitting the lock mechanism the car stared beeping pretty loud. It took him another 5 minutes with the slim jim to get it open. What i found interesting was that the car was trying to lock itself when he was slim jimming it. Anyways i dont plan on leaving this installed to soon cuz i wanna get a really good alarm but i just thought it wasent that bad as you guys were saying. I do however have a TII and maybe the factory alarms are better than other models.

how did you know the time frame? were you watching him do it, or was it a friend playing a joke? Did he get in it eventually?

LOL thought I was the only guy with that problem!! ford must have been sleeping in the mazda's bed for a few years there. My 93 base works perfect on my 90 gtu. Actually better-- it isn't nearl as flexible than the spare I have made.

heh go figure eh?

When I had my 83, I walked out of the mall, opened up my car and noticed...hey...where did this box come from?! WTF...the interior is brownish!!?! Then I see MY car about 5 spaces down parked behind a minivan.

I *almost* considered starting it just to see...

Well... somehow mazda got my keys screwed up, because the black key unlocks my car (not copies) and the bare metal key starts the car... the bare metal one will not unlock the door, and the black one will not start the car.

Does anybody have a website that shows HOW to use a slim-jim??? I have one, but dont know how to use the ******* thing.

They are called vallett(sp?) keys. Used when you have vallett parking so they punks don't go through your glove box and bins. But obviously if it won't open your door something is hella wrong with it.

I'm not going into graphic details for reasons...

But if you're inclined to learn, remove the door panel and the plastic lining. Hit the locks a few times to learn which rods move. Now with the door open reach around with the slim jim and learn what to hook it on while you see what you're doing inside the door.

Hint: Handle side of door.

Goto the dealership and have them cut you a new key.

I know some people that steal cars.

They looked at my key and said they could make a Jiggler key which would open the door and start the car.

They made one for Civics and they just drive away.

Pretty scary. I might do an ignition switch under the dash or something to help deter them from taking the car.

My friend would disconnect his throttle spring off his 400hp/tq pick up so if someone stole it they would be in for the ride of their life!

With your attitude, I can see why you don't have friends to help you.

That's the last you'll hear from me.

I'm actually thinking of taking off the door panel, removing the window, and welding a piece of metal around the mechanism to deter ANY slim jimming!
