Malloy is GONE!
Well, not gone.... Just no longer a Mazda dealer, which is just about as bad! It must have happened this past week or so. I really hope there is another Mazda dealer that will pick up where they left! I tried to get a part from a local stealership and it was going to cost almost TWICE as much...

I think I'm going to call a few dealerships and see if one will step up and fill the void this has created. Does anyone know what kind of discount we were getting from Ray?

Might as well let the cat out of the bag, use Tasca Parts. Less expensive than Malloy and
great people to work with. Fast shipment of OEM parts. I've used them for the last year
or so, 5 shipments @ $1500 in parts.
Genuine Factory OEM Parts & Accessories | TascaParts.com
Give them a try and see what you think. Some small parts aren't listed, but I use the Mazda
parts on line catalog, get the number(s) and place it in the Tasca site to retrieve the part and
place it in the cart.

Mazda usa's new online catalog, only goes to like 1986 or something. and "online" = sucks donkey *****, its non intuitive, and since it needs to go over the internet, its SLOOOOOOOOOW. if you had a week with the mircofish on a projector, you'd be way faster than the online catalog.

Myself and Ray found out the same day when I tried to order parts last week. He had called me back and said they discontinued the franchise with Mazda and he just found out right then. He also said give him a month or so to find another location and he would get the word out. He is the best parts guy and goes way out of his way to help people out in locating items. Hope he hooks up soon.
As for Tasca I don't waste my time. They use to be good but now they just say parts are discontinued or they don't know how to buy RX7 parts.

Many parts are discontinued as proven by Mazdatrix, Atkins, or just part number lookup.
If fact, just purchased 4 silver TII decals, N/A from Mazda, Mazdatrix, only Atkins had them available.
After VIN check, Tasca even called to tell me that the part I ordered was a different color than
what the VIN indicated. It was different because Blaze Red was no longer available.
To each their own.

there is just no way
your local dealer is not selling parts OVER list
there is no way malloy could sell parts for 50% off list
standard shop discount is 20% off list , some shops might get a bit more if they spend more at a dealer but they still aint getting 50%
show me your estimate from your local dealer and the malloy parts being 50% cheaper , heck just google search the mazda part numbers you have purchased in the past and see what prices come up

Seems to depend on part somewhat.
body parts-
I know when I had to buy a Dr side door for my FC Mazdamotorsports was 1/2 of what the paint shops COST was.
When my FD was in the shop it was the same deal with suspension, oil coolers and air conditioning pieces.
I have found like you that all the parts I use to rebuild engines aren't nearly as marked up (must be big sellers LOL).
Bottom line, race two auto-x events (one weekend in our club) and get a Mazda Motorsports sponsorship.

it depends on the part, some parts there is a huge difference between dealer cost, and list price, some parts (like engines, and seat covers) had a tiny difference. list price also varies, we checked some stuff in japan once, and some stuff was cheaper and some more. for instance a fuel filter for an FD here was like $40, and over there it was $80.
the important part is that Mazda Japan imports to Mazda USA, and then sells to dealerships and then to wholesalers. consequently loosing a middle man is the best way to save $$

I'm lucky I have a good local dealer. I typically order straight from them, but I have gone the Mazdatrix and Tasca route a few times. My dealer usually gives me 20% off list price. For me, this makes it worth having to pay 7% local tax as I save on shipping, and usually get my items within two or three days.

Got the part I was looking for. Thanks Turbonut for suggesting Tasca! They are cheaper than Malloy, by $2 for the part and $3 for the shipping. The dealership near me was trying to charge 25% over list price. Take that 25% and add the $9 that Malloy takes off and you come to ALMOST 50%. So yes, Rob, the price difference can easily be CLOSE to 50%.

I'm surprised to hear the bad news. I live local and bought all my parts at Malloy. Is Ray still at Malloy? Ray is a super guy and super parts manager. Hope that he's not out of a job.
I think he gave about a 20% or so discount off list. There are some online Mazda dealer parts websites in Georgia (near Atlanta) that had offered some pretty good prices too. I don't remember their names, but if you goggle a Mazda parts number, I'm sure their websites will show up.
