Question Making FTP lights -- need opinion on wiring

I'm following the guide at http://www.smempire.org/staff/ryosuke/ftp/index.php in how to cut into the FTP lenses and add lights and need some help with wiring. The faq does not mention the addition of a relay, so I'm planning to put one in. What do you think of this wiring setup? Also, would a 20A fuse be high enough for these lights?

In a related note, Fry's sells a plug for those relays, Outpost #: 4191643 (costs 3.99). I feel more comfortable just replacing the relay without trying to remember which spade connector goes where.

just wire them into your stock parking lights. Already has a fuse. And just cut a simple hole big enough to fit on of those nice rubber light holders so no moisture gets inside. Same as the kind that are used in the rear markers on our cars.

i honestly wouldnt wire anything into the parking lights, i only say this cause i just burned up my whole wiring harness to the parking lights, just because of some fog lights i spliced into the parking lights. u see, the stock setup has no relay for the parking lights, and too much of a load will burn up the switch and the wires if not the lights as well, sorry, just my own experiance and thoughts....

Use the wiring I attached. It runs the relay off the parking lights so you won't be accidentally leaving your FTPs on and killing you battery.

I did it awhile ago and it works great, especially off the stock fog light switch from a S5.

Thanks for the diagram uRizen. I don't have a S5 fog light switch so I'm planning to put my switch under the steering wheel.

I'm also trying to avoid cutting into the stock wiring harness so if I screw up, only my ftp light circuit gets cooked.

why don't you just wire the headlights to come on in the down position? i don't really see the point in needing to add lights when there is a good sized one already there.

previous owner of my car did the modification, looked simple enough with only a few wires but there appears to be a resistor and condensor in there so i never bothered to figure out wtf he did to wire it up in mine all i know is it works just fine.

I just put a switch to ground off the red black wire on the headlight switch to turn them on when they're down. Works great.
