Make IT STOP!!

Anyone have any idea on how to make my car stop doing that damn reving idle thing. I tried adjusting my TPS to no avail. I think the thermo wax in the throttle body or whatever it is, is messed up causing it. At least thats the conclusion I've came to providing that I've read everything right. Its getting on my nerves. people think I'm reving my car and ****. Always get a confused look on their face when I step out of the car. Then I get "the question" Why does your car idle like that? Someone, please help. Is there a way I can disconnect that system without removing the throttle body and UIM. Cause I'm in the process of saving up for a rebuild and until then I'm trying not to spend any extra money that I dont have.

your car is supposed to do this to accelerate the wrm up. you can stop it by removing the coolant flow to the throttle body and pulling out the thermowax and then wiring the fast idle cam back. while you're at it you could do the full throttle body mod and pick up some power while your at it. search the forum, some one did a write up on the throttle body mod and thermo wax. i too know what it's like to get funny looks when the car starts good luck

No, not when the car starts, ALL THE TIME. Last night after I posted this I went on an inspection of my car with a flashlight. I believe the problem may be in the vacuum lines in, on, or near the vacuum rack (rats nest). since I've removed the rest of my emissions and the car wasnt doing this before I believe something is leakin somewhere. So Saturday I'm going to remove all that crap, REadjust the TPS. Throughly inspect the throttle cable, remove the cruise control, and attempt to readjust my idle. Plus test the BAC. I would do the TB mod but like I said I dont have the money for gaskets. I'm saving for a rebuild. I'm just tryin to get the car to run as decent as possible till then. I'll keep yall updated.

one more thing: Why does my cars idle jump high for a sec when I put it into a differant gear at a dead stop? I've never seen this before.

If you want cruise control, I might have one... I stripped mine out when I did the TII swap... I never used cruise in any of my cars... Send me a PM if interested..

Forsaken, my FD did that before I got rid of it... Never had time to find the problem, mine would only do it while in gear though, if I left it in nuetral it just had a high idle... Damn vacuum leaks

AHA!!! I found it! I ****** found it!! It wasnt in the rats nest at all. You see, what happened was as I was tryin to get to the rats nest I realized I'm gonna need to take the UIM off. So I said screw it and proceeded to take it off. As soon as I got it off I realized there was a huge intake leak in one of the runners on the manifold. That and I think the thermowax was jammed up. But either way, I found it. Now that I have it off, I might as well do the TB mod. YEEHAW!!! Damn, this makes me so happy. I would have been pissed to have reset all my stuff to no avail.
