Angry Major loss of power and I can't figure out why. Please help.

O.K.
Heres the deal.
My 89 GXL. Just cutting it. There is no power. I can't figure out why. I have an exhaust leak but that can't be making this happen. its only a leaking gasket. The compression is in spec. A whimpy 75 in front and a 90 on back. The timing when I checked it was right dead on. And its all stock. I can floor it and NOTHING! it just crawls up to speed. WTF?!?! Can anyone help. I need ideas.

hhmmm.
I just went out and checked timing again and the timing was WAY advanced, and my L1 coil isn't firing. I fixed the timing but the coil isn't firing. Is this my problem? Please help.

Ok i'm not smart with these cars YET but i do remember seeing a thread where the ecu could get coroded and basically short out a section of it'self. maybe i'm wrong would anybody verify this? because you can clean that **** off yourself very easily if that's the case.

Check for fouled plugs, check the coil, check to make sure the coil is attached properly, i.e. no loose connections... How is it running? Smooth, shitty? etc, etc.

the car is running rough and it has no power. In the way it sounds i guess you could say it has a sort of V8 sound to it in roughness. All the connections I have found are on tight but I don't know if they have bad wiring or not.
