MAJOR Coolant Leak

Ugh I just cant win with this car lol. Got the mufflers put on and last night I put on the new ball joints and outter tie rod ends and just took it to have an alignment done, its no more then 3/4 of a mile down the road. I drove back and my roommate noticed a huge puddle under the car I think my radiator is probably empty now I popped the hood and the back driver side of the engine bay is splashed with coolant and I have no idea where it came from I cant see any leaking anywhere I'm going to have to let it cool before I start digging around any certain area I should look for I didnt think any coolant lines ran there

what year a trim is the car?

if it was at the back driver side it might be a heater hose that cracked or possiby the coolant lines that go through the throttle body, but im talkin about an s4, i dont know which you have.

have you tried to squeeze the radiator hoses when the system is full to see if anywhere springs a leak?

check the hose that connects to the fire wall... they ususaly come loose under high rpm's if not fastend tightly.

There are actually three heater hoses; I agree one of these is probably the problem.

I looked and it looks like there might be a small (1/4" cut) on the back side of the heater hose right where it connects to the block. Its hard to tell till it cools enough for me to start moving stuff to get a better look

Quick Question not realated, when looking at the heater hose right above it there looks to be a real tiny hose comining off of something but its been cut any idea what that goes too?

First: Relax

Second: if its metal heat it up and widen it back out using something, maybe a punch. dont be too forcefull, and remember everything can be fixed.

new hoses and screw type clamps are a must.

well I know its part of the heater core.. and I already read what a pita it is to replace that. Its way to tight of an area to get much in there but Ive opened it up except for a pinch on the top I cant get out. Theres no way to heat it up with all the rubber lines around it

and no one locally carries the hose.. I'm finding out that parts (even common) are very difficult to get for this car

welcome to rx-7 ownership its not a honda civic where even lawnmower parts will work
you should be able to find them at a dealership or mazdatrix.com
or make something custom yourself.

Jegs has a braided stainless heater hose that I will probably swing by and get and hope it clamps. I was kind of shocked when the dealer didnt carry the air filter or spark plugs for my car...

In the past five years or so, I've also noticed that the chain parts stores have stopped stocking stuff like this for the FC. You used to be able to walk into any Pep Boys or Auto Zone and buy the NGK BUR7EQ/BUR9EQ and an air or fuel filter. Not true anymore, though they can still order the items for you. Now I have a drop-in K&N filter not because of any imagined performance benefits, but so I can stop hunting for filters. As for the plugs, I keep an extra set on hand for emergencies and always order another set when I use my backup set.

I guess these cars are kind of becoming antiques.

Went to the local jegs and picked up some 3/4" rubber hose surrounded by stainless steel mesh and put that in and so far has worked like a charm. It did start leaking when I was just filling it with collant up at the firewall but I put a lot better clamp on and filled up the system started it and let it run for about 10 minutes with no signs of leaks even reved it a bit. Took it for a short drive around and came back and still dont see any leaks so hopefully its fixed

i had the exact same problem when i first bought my car. the coolant from the front leaked all the way out, when that was fixed another coolant line in the back spewed tons of antifreeze and i had no idea where it came from. the guy at the shop explained rotarys having 2 places for antifreeze, but i couldnt keep up.
