NV lsd swap to vert question.

So i just picked up an S5 Tii lsd rear end and went to put it in my 88 vert. I didnt do enough research and now learned that i need the Tii driveshaft. My question is will the S5 Tii driveshaft slide right on to my 88 vert tranny?? Concern is different length driveshaft and different splines on the tranny.

No, the yokes are different. You have to make/buy a custom driveshaft with a manual NA yoke and a pinion flange from a TII driveshaft. OR have modify a manual NA driveshaft to match the bolt patter on the TII pinion. I'd suggest having a shop with a mill do this, unless you want to risk imbalance.

The s5 is a vlsd, where as the s4 is a clutch type. I'd ditch the s5 one and get a s4 lsd, as most s5 ones are no better than an open dif.

You'll also need the axle shafts.

RotaryResurrection has a complete writeup of the differences here.

I do not believe so,according to previous write ups.
it is better to just use a conversion shaft to mate the N/A trans to the TII diff.,and use TII axles.(as the N/a axles will not fit to the TII stub flanges).

I know this is a super old thread, but my question doesn't seem important to need a whole new thread. I have access to an '87 GXL LSD that I want to put in my '90 vert. There shouldn't be any issues bolting right up, correct? Both are 4.10 gears, and from what I understand the only swap you need new stub shafts for is the Turbo II diff swap. Am I correct here? Thanks guys.

I didn't think I would need a new driveshaft if I'm just putting on the diff? I'm not doing a motor or tranny swap, I'm just putting a limited slip diff on. I was told it bolts right up...

limited slip from an s4 gxl or s5 gtus will bolt up to everything, any turbo lsd will not.

All of the non-turbo FC differentials have the same mounting points, so it will bolt right up if you currently have a non-turbo differential in your car.
