If it even has one, it's most likely a clutch-type.
Only the 1989 - 1990 "GTUs" comes with a viscous-type.
JDM Infini (IV's?) come with Torsen.

RETed is correct. If you want something "better" you can find Torsen's for rx7's all day long on ebay for fairly cheap.

AHEM....
let me clear my throat...
all 1989-1991 rx7's came with a viscous fluid LSD, even the TII.

maybe Ted is talking jdm specs, but in usa the 1989-1991 TII came with a viscous fluid LSD.

the S4 clutchpack LSD design is best, its strong and rebuildable plus the TII LSD is even stronger (larger diameter ring gear and halfshafts) than the GXL diffs

the FD Torsen will do well up to certain power levels... the '99+ FD Torsen is as strong as the FD Torsen gets... probably as strong as the S4 TII LSD.

I guess it depends on your definition of "better". I know that some FD owners that change their Torsen out for a clutch-type LSD...it depends what you're using the vehicle for.

And, for the record:

S4 (86-88) had a clutch type LSD
S5 (89-91) had a viscous LSD
