Question Lsd

Hey everyone just got my hands on an 86 GXL and I have a buttload of questions for you, but for the time being answer me this. Will the the LSD and driveshaft already equipped, be able to handle an N/A to turbo engine swap.

Dependant on the amount of power you plan to run...yes it will.

Id swap in a Turbo2 driveline if I was in your position. I personally dont see a N/A tranny, or possably rear end and 1/2shafts holding that much power.

No problem. If you were only planning on running stock or even 250ish HP from the engine, than the N/A driveline should be adequate. But the general concensus is that it cant hold much more than the 250 mark reliably.

TII trannies dont take all that well to 400whp, much less NA transmissions. I dont think even a copper race clutch on a NA would hold (its smaller than the turbo, which is still small IMO).

i think you should worry about getting 300-400whp first. Then, you should worry about the driveline.

How do you plan on getting your 400whp?

There is $tright cut gear $ets available that can handel some huge HP that go into the turboII trans case.
