How does everyone have there car lowered? and how much $, i would like to lower my car, but not sacrifice any of the ride....can this be achieved?

Lowering springs will lower your car...But Im not sure how much they are now-a-days...


But the important thing is that if you get aftermarket springs, they WILL kill your stock shocks.

Once you lower your car you sacrifice ride. Especially with the 10 year old Shocks, you may need to upgrade to stock or performance shocks. Check to see if any of your shocks are blown before lowering.

The brands of lowering springs for the FC are: Eibachi, Racing Beat, Suspenion Technique and Intrax. They lower the car from 0.75-1.00 inch. Surprising its not much, and it may look likie its in its stock position.

The next level is to get a coilover setup. They may cost a bundle but they are worth every single penny.

uhh, i just want the car to look lower, so when i get nice rims, i dont want the stock rake, and such a huge gap between the wheel and the fender

I'm looking into a set of ground control coilovers. You can adjust the ride height, up to a 1.5 inch drop for our cars i think. They are reasonably priced at $100 per corner. That gets you a eibach NON progressive spring and the adjustment mechanism.

if you want your car to solely just look lower and not sacrifice your ride, get intrax - they drop your car 1.75"

even on their website, they mention that their springs will give you the look, while giving you the same ride as before.

I just put on suspension techniques springs 1.5 inch drop, $120. They worked greatand I can still go over speed bumps and not scrap. I feel bumps a little more though but its expected.

whoa, those intrax look dope, but i will have to get a rear camber adjustment to get rid of the negative camber made by the dropping of the car. I've been in BCTY's and i think that his has has intrax, it's still prett smooth

BTW: WHo said that intrax makes springs that makes the car lower, but keeps the same ride? I guess it's dependent on the shock absorbers too.

 

Just because Im the way I am, Im gonna have to let you know that he already has a "coilover" system on his car. Almost all cars come that way from the factory...

Maybe you dont know what "coil over shock" means?

That's a bunch of crap - I had 'em on my n/a and they are buckboard stiff.
Racing Beat will lower you about 1", some guys don't get enough drop in the rear with these. (I had these too)
ST's are about the same, except the difference between their front and rear spring rate is closer than RB.
Eibach Pro-Kits are about 3/4" drop and are a progressive spring.
Tokico also makes springs for FC's and I think they are also about 3/4" drop.
For what you want to do, I'd advise Ground Control also.

 

I just installed all new struts and springs on my 90 TII last week. I chose to go with Eibach springs because I had a set on another vehicle a few years ago and I was very happy with them. They lowered the car about 3/4 of an inch all around with the front being most apparent. I didn't realize just how much lower the car was until the next day when I reached down to open the hood and felt the difference. I also chose to go with KYB's AGX model adjustable struts due to the fact that the rears are externally adjustable as opposed to the Tokico Illuminas which require removal of the rear speakers to adjust the strut. I was very impressed at how much the handling improved over the stock setup. I guess this should not have been a total surprise considering that the original struts and springs had just passed 130k miles the day I replaced them. I immediately set the rears to 6 (8-way adjustable, 1 being softest and 8 being most firm) and the fronts to 3 (4-way adjustable). I could not get the car to stop bouncing over small bumps in the road! It was very uncomfortable to ride home that night with the ride being that stiff. I set the rears back to 3 and the fronts to 2 and I now have a great ride and very tight cornering ability. Though I did sacrifice a small bit of the smooth ride, I am very pleased at the responsiveness of the new setup. I also purchased new tires at the same time and installed them last Friday. I went up from the stock 205/55-16's to a 225/50-16. The overall circumference does not change but it does give a much wider contact patch and improved traction. The wider tires tend to fill the front fender wells more but I still need a bit more to get away from the sunk-in look in the rear.
