Lower rear strut bolt

is the bolt that hold the rear strut down suppose to be flush with the strut? mine aren't and there seems like there's suppose to be a bushing in between the knuckle and the strut bottom, i don't have one. i think this may be the source of my clunking sound.

The shock strut comes with a built in bushing with a inside dia the size of the attach bolt. Ever bothered to just look at your other shock strut???? Manual is online and FREE at http://www.iluvmyrx7.com and several other sites. Compare the bolt/strut in the other side of the car. Yes. Will cause CLUNK.. or the clunk could be your differentials front mount gone bad. That clunks when you shift the car or come to a stop.
