I agree. Works well. but you have to really put some elbow grease into it.

i had to take the blade out because you really cant get the angle you need...
make sure no pieces of the gasket is getting itno the engine... im sure you alreadt know this..... but just be patient and it will eventually all come off...

Most auto parts stores sell gasket remover spray. Use it in combination with a razor blade. Don't use a razor blade on aluminium but it's OK for steel.

My neighbor told me the spray doesn't work all that well, I got a razor and now it's a little bit more easy, I guess I just need some time working on it.

The spray needs little time to work. Let it sit an hour or so before you scrape.

is it bad to use a wire wheel, like on a drill or dremel? I used that on my transmission front cover, but I'm pretty sure it's cast iron. Are the intake manifolds all aluminum?

You need to get the Scotchbrite pads for your drill and scotchbrite the **** out of it until you get all that old material off. They sell small disk that fit on your drill. It will take a while to get it all off, but if you don't, your asking for a vacuum leak tomorrow.

Refer to the FSM for torque specs and bolt tightening patterns when you go back together with it. Please don't discount this advice

Somebody with the intials BP was "plagued" with this same problem and the vacuum leak eluded him for almost three months........to point where he alomst sold his car. Torque specs and tightening patterns are your friend

Let it sit overnight...even better. The old gasket will come off like putty.

Damm! think I should really get this spray now. I don't want any leaks. BTW I got a good 97% off the lower intake and 75% off the upper intake so far.
