Low gas lamp, only to in-tank sensor or to gauge as well?
My idiot cluster low gas light has never worked, which has made my car stop in the most awkward places (as my gauge is kinda... short terms, 3/4 is zero, full is 3/4, the rest is unknown).
So what I am wondering, as I know the idiot cluster works, is the low gas light connected only to the in-tank sensor, or does it cooperate with the gauge somehow? It is painful to fill up 16 gallons when I only need 5 to get home, because of the lack of knowledge on how much I really had before I filled. Last time I thought I was empty, I filled 6 gallons and it was full, with the gauge being on 0 for the last three weeks.

So, since I get light in it when I turn the ignition switch to on, it is probably the in-tank sensor that is gone... that might explain the gauge as well, I would think the sensor has a bigger risk of dying than the gauge.

Well, the in-tank sensor also got a low level sensor on it. If the plug is the problem, it could explain alot. And these 20 year old plugs are not to be reckoned with. My TPS was screwy, it was the plug. Same with my BAC, cluster, and so on.
