Angry low boost

Hello all

Well I bought a 87tIIwith 96,000 miles on it,But I drove it and it got varry low boost he stock gauge goes to +40 but it barely boosted above like +5 or so The gauge doesnt read like that but that is about where it was.I wanted to knowifmaby you knew what was up with it if you had any suggestions? It blows no smoke. So i take it the turbo is good but i have no turbo experince. And I canhear the turbo spinning.I would say the gauge is off but it fells like Iam driving my stock 88 GTU.Iam kind of let down about the performance oftheTII.But I know its not boosting right. If you can give me some pointerssotips on what i should do to get her screaming the way she should.I cheack all the plumbing and vac lines and replaced most of the vac lines,The turbo spins smooth no drag or play.the acv realeases pressure all the time lots of it.the bov is fine.I cheeck the westgate but didnt know how far it should move it only moved about a 1/4 inch that didnt seem right but what do i know.I think the acv is releasing the boost or the west gate is bad what does everone think.

I'd have your local rx7 mechanic check it. Could be something easy or major.

Any compression #s on the engine?

When it's boosting right, you get a huge surge of power above 2500 rpms. Drives & feels completely different than the NAs - feels like a supercar.

Try an aftermarket boost guage, make sure your getting accurate readings. If the car runs and idles, the compression is fine, its a rotary. Does it have the stock precat and main cat?

Since I'm not mechanically minded, I can only give info on my experiences. My T2 had been 'boosting' just fine, but one day I started driving and found that I was getting barely any boost at all. I thought for sure that I had major problems. It turned out that the material inside one of my CATs had basically just disintegrated, and was clogging up the exit pipe in that CAT. After taking out most of the moving material, took it for a drive and got full boost.

Just my 2 cents worth.
