loud knocking noise

i have a 87 tll i just got it running but it smokes alot and it has a loud knocking noise from under the hood what is it and it wont ideal right

PitBulls: Smoke Color/smell? Any idea exactly where the knocking is coming from Turbo? Engine? Belt? Fan? See what you can provide before you restart the car so you do not casue any additional damage.
