lost power when engine is cold
Hey guys, I can not figure this out. Ok so I buy a 87' rx-7 that has been sitting up for a long time. I got it running burnt out all the old fuel and changed every filter and the oil and did a water treatment on it. The thing has started running better the more I drive, I assume becasue the carbon. Well here is what it is doing. When I crank it up it will run rough and sputter for about a secound and a half (might be normal cuz it is old) Well then some times it will idle up high (like it is supposed to) then it will come down quickly, some times it takes it like a minute to come down from 2000 rpms to normal idel (750) what is up with that? Well then I go out one the road. Some days I will be running like a bat out of hell, barking second and it has a **** load of torque. Other days I will go out and it will run like **** for like 5-10 min. and then it runs good again. When it runs like **** it still goes fine but it is like I have no trottel reponse and will not come close to barking second. Do that just ahve to warm up sometimes? It is not that cold here though? Any suggestions. Ohe one more thing my freind that has a second gen. Took off my vaccum hose that goes to my air pump. Some trick he learned. It did not have and y particular effect on this prob but just figured I woudl trow that in.
Oh, here are some of my theries.
It floodeds alot. So maybe I am fouling a trailing plug and then as it warms up it starts working
intermidiate grounding
sticky apex seal that works it self loose
some other electrical prob because sometime the interior insturment lights come on (the ones around the speedometer and the clock)
Any eleboration on these would help me out for my own rotory education

I dont know much about early gens but wouldnt you think it would run rich when cold? Choke? My 7 doesnt run well until it gets up to speed. Its a safety feature to keep you from blowing the motor. You need to warm up a Rotary before you romp on it.
