lose power after about 6800 rpm to 8000 rpm

about 80% of the time i lose power like my car is not getting gas or something around 6800rpm to 8000rpm. about 20% of the time the car hooks up well and i can easily get my car to scratch in second gear. when it is losing power i can't get it to scratch going into second at all. could this be a clogged fuel filter, it needs to be changed. also my car is running rich i believe due to the fact that it would not pass emissions due to hydrocarbons and the continuous afterburn. my car just might need a major tune up but i have already replaced the 02 sensor, spark plugs, wires and filter with a k&n. i am lost on what to do. my car also might be advanced too far making it run rich, i think. thanks

Fuel injector cleaning/service?

The fact that it only does it some of the time is weird. I'd double check some of the main grounds too.

Seeing how its an *S5* N/A, and from my experience, I'd first verify yoru VDI is opening. A stuck/intermittent VDI will kill everything above ~6k. Then again, a full tune up (fluids, filters, hoses ,vac lines) is probably in need anyhow.
