If you are getting a loud thumping in the rear of the car when you accelerate or shift quickly, it is likely your differential mount is shot. As for the sloppy shifter, you probably need to replace your shifter bushings.

All the items can be found at www.mazdatrix.com. If you try to go to the dealership for the shifter bushings, you will likely only get one and not both that you need. Just order them online, they are not that expensive.

Changing the differential mount does require some time and work. I believe you have to drop the subframe to gain access to the mount.

You need both the upper and lower shifter bushings to make a complete set.
