I have a 1986 RX7 in excellent condition, I live in the northshore area of chicago illinois and NEED to find a garage that can take care and replacing the original stock muffler system on the RX7 and possibly a tuneup.

Other than driving 100's of miles to get this done there is no one that I know of whom can order a replacement for the original stock muffler and put it on or knows how to work on a 86 RX7.

I contacted the dealer were it was purchased back in 1986 and they seemed clueless other than be buying a new RX8.

ANYONE here on this forum can give me direction would be greatly helpful.

This is my second RX7 and love the car, one owner (me) 83 thousand miles, garaged kept and well still fast as fast can be. Except it now sounds NON stock!!!

Depending your mechanical abilities you should be able to do at least the tune up yourself. If you encounter any problems just ask. I'm sure someone on here has encountered the same and would gladly give you some guidance.

If for some reason you are unable to do the work yourself. Try searching for members on here that are in your area, and send out some PM's.

Love to have someone tune it up for me and also replace the muffler system, having a hard time finding a great shop that can order a replacement and install it in my north shore area of chicago.

I heard of two places but they were 50 to 100 miles away.

Still looking for help.

 

doesnt need to be a rx7 specialist to install an exhaust.

do the tuneup yourself, youll save a bunch of money, buy everything you need from mazdatrix.com

 

The only place I would ever go to in Chicagoland is Shook Motorsports. He is in Rockford but worth the drive.
