Looking to buy a 89

I have always loved RX-7's My dad had an 82 when I was a kid that I loved. It was going to be mine for the future, but we had to sell it when we moved. I am looking to buy a 1st or second gen. I found 2 89's the first one (http://halifax.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehi...QAdIdZ46419433) Doesn't run but I think I can fix her up. the second one (http://halifax.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehi...QAdIdZ68018641) is a bit more expensive but it runs. What do you guys think of them?

I would personally go with number 2. You buy a non runnin car you never know what your going to end up with.

well first off the first one isnt a 89.. its got all the parts of a s4 (86-88) like body trim, wheels, and tail lights. unless he changed the exterior parts to the earlier model..which i highly doubt. so that just shows he most likely doesnt know much about rx7's.. so if you do go with that first one i would first suggest doing the compression test to see the numbers yourself.. just to make sure compression is up to snuff. But the 2nd one is a s5 (89-91) or looks like it anyway.. i would go with the s5.. if it runs and he has paperwork on the rebuild, it would be a better deal in the long run
so +1 for the s5

Just got off the phone with the first guy. He swore it was an 89 but I looked up the vin and sure enough it was a 88. He is getting spark, fuel full compression on all cycles. When you turn the key nothing happens but he manually jumped the starter it cracked but did not catch. any ideas what could be happening here?

I like the fix-er-upper of the first one but the engine work required might be a headache. He knocked it down to 600. and also the rockers need work... I can buy the first one but I think im going to wait for the second one
