Look at these plugs. Watcha think?

I changed plugs today and I noticed something different about the old ones, normaly they are black with a little bit of brown. This time they are still black with a little brown, but the brown is real blotchy or in patches. Tell me what you think of them. Not the best pics but they might work.

Oh and do they have to much oil on them? I premix.

They look fairly normal. T1 does seem to have slightly excessive carbon deposits. What ratio premix are you running?

1:1 Ratio. Every time I go to the gas station I put in 8 ounces of 2-cycle to 8 gallons of gas. Maybe to much 2-cycle?

I'm also running all #9's NGK's.

1oz per 1 gallon is normal, premixing can dirty up plugs faster, I think the general rule is to change every other or every 3rd oil change or something.

I thought you weren't supposed to use 2 cycle oil... but the plugs dont look that bad.

When I took the plugs out of mine before summer heat started... both {EDIT, doh!}sides{/EDIT}were pretty much ghost white (running WAAAY too lean)

NOT supposed to use 2 cycle? 2 cycle is what you are SUPPOSED to use for premixing.

I ran those for about a month and a half, so I say around 500 miles. I change them as much as I can.

im gonna set the record straight 1oz to 1 gallon is .25/1 there are 4oz in 1gallon, so for you to have 1:1 you would have 32oz of 2-cycle to 8 gallons of gas

Something else to remember. Some premix doesn't mix at the same ratio. You need to read the back of the bottle to be sure.

It looks like it's burning fine (not too lean or not too rich), but it looks like the motor is burning a lot of oil???

Haha, I guess I just worry to much. I'll run them a little longer and see what they look maybe after 1,000 miles.

premix......what....???GOULETTE!

now wait a minute.... How can you burn to much premix? I thought it burned really really clean? Say I run 70:1. You think I will foul a plug? I think it just means you don't redline enough.

i premix 1oz:1gallon and try to redline at least once a day to keep carbon build-up down. had plugs in for about 12000miles still worked fine. acutally gave them to a friend he cleaned them up with a wire brush and put them in his 1st gen.

70:1 is starting to get too much.
Keep it over 100:1, and you should not run into fouling problems.
